OUR STORY
What started in an SF backyard in 2019 is now a three-stage, volunteer-run, benefit festival in Berkeley. Here's how we got here.
The Backyard Begins
A handful of friends, one SF backyard, and a stereo. Patiyochella is born — no stages, just vibes, and the first inkling that this could become something bigger.

Paused, Then Back Bigger
No shows in 2020 or 2021 — the backyard went quiet, but the group chat never stopped planning. When Patiyochella came back in 2022, it returned bigger than ever.
Two Stages, One Backyard
The comeback. A pop-up second stage, a real lineup, and neighbors started sending their kids over — the first real hint of a festival identity.

The Community Year
Local sponsors joined in. Small businesses set up pop-ups. The festival started to feel like a neighborhood — and spun off its own after-hours acoustic sibling, Patiyo Unplugged.

New Patiyo. Bigger Chella.
Patiyochella outgrew the backyard. We packed up the lawn chairs and set up shop at 7th West in Oakland for a full day of music — Tucker Owen, Periscope, Cardboard People, Alvie and the Breakfast Pigs, and more. Same energy, real venue, way more room to dance.

First Official Benefit Show
We formalized the charity mission — 50% of profits to Oakland Elizabeth House. Nearly $7,000 raised. The proudest year yet.

Three Stages. Bigger Backyard.
Patiyochella moves to Gilman Wine Block in Berkeley with THREE stages: Patiyo, Jell-O, and Flamingo. All-ages, volunteer-run, charity-first — same heart, more room to dance.

SEVEN YEARS OF MOMENTS
A few snapshots from backyards past.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
All-Ages
The backyard is for everyone. Kids, parents, neighbors, first-timers.
Volunteer-Run
90% of the crew is showing up because they love this. That's the whole magic.
Local Artists First
The Bay has the talent. We just build the stage.
Charity-First
50% of profits go to Oakland Elizabeth House. Every year, that number grows.

A community that shows up.
Every dollar raised, every set played, every bracelet tied — that's neighbors, friends, and strangers who became friends. Year 7 is just the next chapter.
